A Ray of Hope: Philanthropist Brings Aid and Solar Power to Uzuakoli Settlement”
In a heartwarming display of compassion and commitment to humanity, renowned philanthropist and entrepreneur Dr. Chima Desmond Anyaso has extended critical support to the Uzuakoli Leprosy Settlement in Lohum Umuimenyi, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
Responding to a distress call from the settlement’s residents, Dr. Anyaso through his Chima Desmond Anyaso Foundation delivered a wide range of essential items, including bags of rice, cartons of noodles, tubers of yam, and financial assistance. More notably, the foundation also installed solar-powered street lights, significantly improving security and mobility within the resettlement after dark.

The outreach, which took place on Sunday, was met with scenes of emotion and gratitude as residents welcomed Dr. Anyaso with songs, prayers, and testimonies of hope.

“True leadership is not about titles or positions, but about impact,” Dr. Anyaso said during the visit. “These people are not forgotten. They are part of us, and we must continue to show love and support.”

In addition to the immediate relief items, Dr. Anyaso pledged sustained support for the settlement. He also announced plans to include the residents in future empowerment programs under his foundation’s broader rural development agenda.
During a guided tour of the facility, Dr. Anyaso witnessed the deplorable condition of the infrastructure, including collapsed residential blocks. Deeply moved, he ordered immediate reconstruction work to restore dignity and safety to the living spaces.

The Project Director of the settlement, Very Rev. Nnaemeka Ajike, hailed the intervention as “timely and life-changing,” urging government agencies and other philanthropists to emulate the gesture.
“This visit has renewed our hope,” Rev. Ajike said. “Dr. Anyaso has not only given us food and light but also restored our faith in humanity.”
This latest act of service reinforces Dr. Anyaso’s growing reputation for community-driven leadership, with previous initiatives spanning education, youth empowerment, and rural development across Abia State and beyond.
