ABIA STATE SET TO BENEFIT FROM NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL MECHANISATION PROGRAMME

Following the concerted effort of Abía State government’ on Agriculture , the state is to benefit from the National Agricultural Mechanized Program , being handled by The National Agricultural Mechanized Company . NAMCO
The Chief Executive Officer of NAMCO Mr . Aminu Abdulkdri disclosed this when he paid an Official visit to the palace of his Royal Majesty Eze Philip Ajomiwe a prominent farmer in the state and the traditional ruler of Oriendu Autonomous community in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State . Mr Abdulkdri in his speech at the event urged farmers in the state to avail themselves of the good opportunities offered by this Mechanized agricultural program for adequate food supply in the state and Nigeria by extension . He stated
that the Federal Government has ear-marked Abia as one of the States in Nigeria to benefit in its Agricultural Mechanization Programme in conjunction with Chinese Partners.
Mr. Abdulkdir who identified Eze Ajomiwe as one of the Frontline Farmers in the South-East bestowed him with a National Award and announced that the Company has come to empower Abia Youths and Farmers with all mechanized facilities in addition to buying all their Farm Products for Export and ending Food Insecurity in the country and Abia in particular.
Receiving the National Award, the Traditional Ruler Eze Philip Ajomiwe who dedicated the Honour to people of his community, called on Women Farmers in the area to utilize the opportunity to improve their standard of living and appreciated the NAMCO for the honour, as well as pledged not to relent.
In his remarks earlier, the Coordinator of the programme, Dr. Bekee Okechukwu appreciated the State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti for welcoming the programme with open hands and mind as well as the Commissioner for Agriculture Cliff Agbaeze for warm reception of the group and described the programme as a good opportunity and blessing for the State while calling on all Farmers to cue into it.
Responding at the event , another Awardee Chief Kelechi Barry represented by Mr .Boniface Ikengwu thanked the Company for the opportunity given the State and pledged his continued support for the project.
