APC Conducts “Freest and Fairest” Abia South Primary as Erondu Emerges Senatorial Candidate.

Member representing Obingwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Erondu Uchenna Erondu, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Abia South Senatorial District following the party’s primary election held across the six local government areas of the zone.

Speaking with newsmen after the exercise at the APC State Secretariat, Erondu expressed gratitude to God and party members for what he described as a successful and transparent process.

“I feel elated. I feel honored. And I feel the presence of God around me. It was a tough battle. It wasn’t an easy one, having my elders to compete with, but the election was a huge success. I give all glory to God Almighty,” he said.

The lawmaker maintained that no contestant should be seen as defeated, stressing that the primary was a democratic contest among party faithful.
“Nobody was defeated.

We were four contestants and one person had to emerge winner. To the glory of God, that winner is Erondu Junior,” he stated.

On his preparedness for the senatorial contest ahead, particularly against his expected opponents in the general election, Erondu said his strategy would be guided by faith and determination.

“I will refer you to the Book of First Samuel, Chapter 17. When you read it, you will understand my strategy for that election,” he said.

The APC candidate also praised the conduct of the primary election, describing it as the freest and fairest ever organized by the party in Abia State.

“Today witnessed the freest and fairest primaries ever conducted by the APC in this state. The process was transparent because the party adopted the direct primary method where members queued behind their preferred aspirants,” he explained.

According to him, the Abia South Senatorial District comprises 65 electoral wards, adding that the exercise recorded massive participation from party members across the zone.

“I voted in my ward and did not visit any other ward. The people came out en masse and voted. To the glory of God, I scored over 16,600 votes, while the second runner-up polled about 5,000 votes,” Erondu added.
