A TWO DAY TRAINING SUMMIT FOR MEDIA MEN ENDS IN UMUAHIA

A two day training summit for journalists Organised by the founder of Vision Africa Radio Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha have ended in Umuahia.

Declaring the Training Summit open, the governor of the state Dr Alex Otti thanked Bishop Onuoha for the annual event noting that the media have remained the mirror of the society which made the training very apt .

The governor who was represented by the state Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu warned against fake news described Vision Africa Radio as a shining light that have continued to ensure professional standardization for journalists .

The governor who was speaking at the premises of Vision Africa radio, Umuahia, during the two days media Institute Training, 2025 edition, which held on, Tuesday June 24 and Wednesday 25th with the theme “Image makers; Shaping culture, inspiring change through media”.
called on practitioners to be strategic partners in the collective journey of restoration, transformation, and renewal of Abia State.

He noted that, he has continued to provide conducive environment for media to operate, disclosing that Abia broadcasting corporation is currently undergoing some remarkable renovations to make key into international information highways

In her goodwill message, the Coordinating Director, National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), Mrs Susan Obi,
commended Vision Africa Radio for continually maintaining professionalism in its broadcast,

She disclosed that the station has showed enough commitment to its target audience since its establishment 22 years ago.

Speaking the president of Vision Africa and Methodist Bishop of Nigeria, Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, said the station has consistently fulfilled its mandate of sharing God’s love , engaging in charity works, visit inmates of correctional centres, healthcare, welfare to those in the rural areas of Abia State and providing scholarship to the needy.

In their different lectures,, Dr Chuck Pollak, Don Geiger, Sharon Geiger, and Troy Miller of Dallas, Texas, USA lectured extensively on the media as veritable instrument to promote good governance and keep the people abreast with the goings on in the society, they also noted that one should have a target audience and know what they want.

Dr Vic Costello suggested a careful use of Artificial Intelligent (AI) in the performance of media work, Jeff Wilson emphasized on the use of photographic shots to tell stories.
