The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, has joined millions across Nigeria and the global Christian community in mourning the passing of a revered spiritual icon, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai.
In a heartfelt tribute, Engr. Emetu described the late evangelist as one of Africa’s most respected Gospel preachers, a global evangelist whose ministry spanned decades and touched lives across continents. According to him, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai was a beacon of hope, a vessel of divine inspiration, and a tireless labourer in God’s vineyard.
“His unwavering commitment to the Gospel, to healing broken hearts, and uplifting the downtrodden has left an indelible mark on countless generations,” the Deputy Governor said.
Speaking further, Engr. Emetu noted that the loss of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai transcends religious circles. “It is not just a loss to the Christian body or the global faith community, it is a deeply personal loss to me and to our shared hometown, Ohafia. We have lost a father, a mentor, and a man whose life was defined by humility, service, and divine purpose.”
He hailed the late clergyman’s legacy as a true man of God, a bridge-builder, and a patriot whose spiritual influence shaped nations and transformed countless lives.
The Deputy Governor extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, and the entire Christian community. He prayed that God grants them the strength to bear this great loss and grants the soul of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai eternal rest.
