Abia state Police Command has raided some criminal hotspots along the dreaded Uturu/Isuikwuato axis, robbers dens, arrested some criminals, and recovered some firearms among other items.
Some of the all male suspects arrested included 32 years old Jerry Chisom, fro. Umuagu Ogwuelle, Tochukwu Ugula, of Amaidi Achara Uturu, both 32, and 28 years old Chinonso Nwankwo, from Nbaka Ugwuelle Uturu, all from Abia State and 19 years old, Kingsley Onyekeba, of Arondizuogu Ideato Imo State, while recovered items included, one locally made pistol, a knife, one iPhone 7 Plus, an Infinix phone, and one laptop.

According to the Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, on 16/07/2025 at about 15:49hrs, following a report received at the Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters regarding a group of suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing and dispossessing students of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) and other residents of their belongings, officers from the Divisional Headquarters, in collaboration with local residents, led by the Divisional Police Officer, successfully traced the hideout of the suspects and apprehended four male suspect and that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices.

She said that in continuation of ongoing raids along the Uturu/Isuikwuato axis, the Command also identified and dismantled other criminal camps in order to rid the area of criminal elements and their activities.
