ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT SET TO RESTORE ELECTRICITY POWER IN OHAFIA AND FLAG OFF MORE ROAD PROJECTS

ABIA State Government’ say all is set for restoration of Electricity power in Ohafia clan .
Addressing the press on Monday the 13th of October at the government’ house Umuahia after the Week’s Executive Council meeting, the Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu said this move would end the over seven years black out in Ohafia. This he said would hasten the development plan of Ohafia by the government through the Greater Ohafia Development Authority GODA .

The Commissioner again disclosed that the state government have concluded the long on going plan to acquire 60 percent stake assets of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company EEDC in the state . He said when the negotiation is fully completed , the state government would be in a position to generate, regulate and distribute electricity power supply in the state especially the eight ring fenced LGAs in Abia Central and Abia North Senatorial zones. This the information Boss noted would enhance power supply and development in the state.
Prince Okey Kanu disclosed that the state government would on the 24th October flag off five new roads project . The roads he said include the Umuahia Ikot Ekpene road , Ariam Usaka ring road , Ihechiowa Arochukwu road , Isieketa Mgbedeala road in Isiala Ngwa South and Ogidi Umuala Eziama Ntigha road in Isiala Ngwa North. The Commissioner said these roads when completed would draw development nearer to the people in the affected communities .
Abia state on the 15th of October would join her counterparts to celebrate World Food Day . According to Prince Okey Kanu the theme of the year Is Hand In Hand For Better Food and Better Future . He observed that the theme underscores the need for a concerted effort by stakeholders in agriculture to achieve sustainable and inclusive food system that would end hunger and malnutrition as well as securing the future for all .
On the Health sector, government’ through the states ministry of health is going to partner with some foreign Medical Organisations for medical interventions in the state. The Commissioner who revealed this said the previous Interventions carried out in the state yielded a lot of good fruits hence the need for repetition of the medical Intervention in other parts of the state .
He noted that the on going recruitment exercise of medical personnel , 601 persons have been recruited out of the 771 persons needed . He explained that the recruitment exercise would continue till the required figure is attained.
