ATPN Southeast unveils 2025 Face of Umuahia South/Cultural Festival, calls for collaboration, active participation.

Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria, South-East Region has disclosed plans to host the 2025 Face of Umuahia South and Cultural Festival with the theme: “Our tradition, our pride”.
Unveiling the programme package in Umuahia, Abia State, while briefing newsmen, Ambassador Onyedikachi Atulomah-Loveday, the Vice President, Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria, South-East Region, said that the event would unveil the cultural heritage of the area and also showcase things that Umuahia South people are proud of including, “our food, the festival of Umuahia South in this context”.

She also said that the festival will offer an opportunity to showcase the Umuahia brain that can represent either the local government or the state at any national or regional pageant.
She said that the event which will take place on 28th and 29th of December, 2025, at Apumiri Ubakala Headquarters of Umuahia South Local Government will be done in collaboration with the office of the Mayor of Umuahia South Local Government, Engineer Chinedu Enwereuzo and his entire council.

“There will a roadshow in the morning, followed by a beauty pageant which will be an all-night event on the 28th, while that of the 29th of December is going to be the cultural carnival. On that day, all our visitors and all our invited guests, everybody is expected to dress in our cultural outfit”.
She said that the choice of Umuahia South was borne out of the fact that she is a bona fide daughter of Abia, born, bred and married also in Abia State.
She said that the contest which will have the first prize of the winner, 500,000 Naira, the second prize, 400,000 Naira cash, the third prize, 300,000 Naira, and other consolation prizes for those who couldn’t make it for the first or third position, is open for every one, those born and those who have lived in Umuahia South.
“After this edition, I believe that next year we are going to do the entire state edition, which will involve all the 17 local governments of Abia State. I feel that the fee for this Umuahia South Festival is 2,000 Naira per candidate. We believe that every community should be represented, every clan that make up the entire local government”.
Continuing, “I can’t become a face of tourism at the national and regional level and will not effect my ingenuity in my state. Our people will not die in darkness while I illuminate other states in the Southeast region. I believe that this event will open a wider range of doors for the local government and even in this state”.
She expressed optimism of massive participation during the event.
On this note, I’m using this opportunity to unveil this program officially and believe that the people, the masses out there will see a reason to do it.
