CP Abia Holds Strategic Conference with Officers, Emphasises Discipline and Proactive Policing

The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, on Friday held a strategic conference with senior officers and other personnel of the Command, with a strong emphasis on professionalism, discipline, and proactive policing in the new year.

The conference, which took place at the Officers’ Mess, Umuahia, was attended by Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Team Commanders, Heads of Departments (HODs), as well as representatives of Inspectors and rank-and-file officers.

As part of the Command’s capacity-building efforts, the conference featured a series of training sessions.

CP Isa officially welcomed officers to the new year and commended them for their dedication and effective performance during the Christmas and New Year festivities, which ensured peace and security across the state.

He urged officers not to relent, stressing that proactive policing remains a key expectation in 2026. According to him, police presence must be visible and impactful across all parts of the state, with a sustained operational tempo.

The Commissioner further underscored the importance of discipline and strict compliance with the laws and regulations guiding the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the NPF Social Media Policy. He cited a recent incident in the Delta State Command, where a Sergeant was reduced in rank for breaching the policy, and warned officers against any conduct capable of violating its provisions.

CP Isa also cautioned officers against involvement in political or party-related activities, noting that party membership registration is ongoing ahead of upcoming elections. He reiterated that the Police must remain neutral at all times and directed that any political-related incidents reported within any Area Command or Division must be brought to his attention by the respective Area Commanders or DPOs before further action is taken.

The Commissioner warned against the over-detention of suspects, stressing that, except in capital offences, suspects must not be detained longer than legally required.

He further reiterated that extortion, drunkenness, illegal roadblocks, and engagement in unauthorized duties will not be tolerated. Supervising officers were charged to ensure effective supervision of their subordinates to avoid vicarious liability.

CP Isa urged the Inspectors’ cadre and rank-and-file officers to be exemplary in their conduct and service, advising them to avoid actions capable of bringing disrepute to the Command.

He encouraged civility, professionalism, and respect in dealings with members of the public, while upholding discipline and the positive image of the Nigeria Police Force in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), DCP Samuel Onoja, delivered a lecture on Orderly Room Trial, while a practical session was facilitated by the DPO, CPS, CSP Lawrence Olorunshola. Another lecture focusing on the transfer of cases, preservation of crime scenes, and investigations was presented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), DCP Hayatu Shaffa. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, also lectured officers on the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Social Media Policy.
