Police Commence 2026 Physical, Credential Screening in Umuahia

The 2026 Physical and Credential Screening Exercise for police applicants commenced on Monday at the Police Officers’ Mess, opposite Damgrete Hotel along Factory Road in Umuahia, Abia State.

The exercise, which began on March 9, is scheduled to run daily until April 18, 2026, with hundreds of applicants expected to undergo the screening process.

The screening team is led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Ike Nwosu, alongside officials from the Police Service Commission, representatives of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), and other relevant offices participating in the exercise.

Addressing the screening team at the commencement of the exercise, the Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Danladi Isa, assured them of his full support and backing throughout the exercise.

He cautioned officers against engaging in any form of corrupt practices and urged them to uphold fairness and transparency in the screening process.

The Commissioner reiterated the directive of the Inspector-General of Police that the exercise must be conducted with professionalism and integrity to ensure a fair and credible process.

CP Isa also addressed the applicants, advising them to remain orderly and conduct themselves properly throughout the exercise. He emphasized that the screening process is completely free of charge and warned against falling victim to extortion.

Applicants were encouraged to report any form of extortion or unprofessional conduct to the Complaint Response Unit of the Abia State Police Command through the following numbers: 09031593827 and 09035401645.

The screening exercise commenced in a secure and orderly environment. The Provost team was actively deployed to maintain order and ensure compliance with the Commissioner’s directive that only officers and applicants with legitimate business at the Police Officers’ Mess be allowed within the premises.

The screening exercise was ongoing smoothly, with officials describing the process as well-coordinated and orderly.
