Anyaso Urges Youths to Drive Innovation, Back Good Governance at Abia Convention

Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso has urged Nigerian youths to embrace entrepreneurship, innovation, and responsible leadership as essential tools for achieving sustainable national development.

He made the call while delivering the opening address as chairman of the 5th Anniversary and Extraordinary Convention of the Progressive Abia Youths, themed “Reimagining Governance: Youth Leadership, Technology and Sustainable National Development Appraising Our Journey, Organizing the Future.”

Anyaso stressed that the era of passive youth participation in governance is over, noting that young people must move beyond complaints and actively engage in leadership, economic productivity, and nation-building.

He described entrepreneurship as a vital platform for grooming future leaders, explaining that it instills discipline, accountability, problem-solving skills, and economic independence qualities necessary for effective governance.

Commenting on developments in Abia State, Anyaso commended Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s administration for what he termed a clear shift from promises to measurable performance. He pointed to growing public confidence, ongoing infrastructure development, and purposeful governance as signs of progress.

The business leader, however, emphasized the need to sustain the momentum through continuity, urging stakeholders and youths to support reforms aimed at repositioning the state for long-term growth. He also challenged young people to adopt a mindset centered on value creation, technology adoption, innovation, and skills development, rather than reliance on government employment.

Declaring the convention open, Anyaso encouraged participants to think boldly, build capacity, and lead with integrity, describing them as key architects of Nigeria’s future.
