Abia Police, NIPR Strengthen Partnership on Community Engagement and Crime Prevention

The Abia State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community engagement and collaboration with stakeholders as part of efforts to enhance peace, security and public trust across the state.

This followed a courtesy visit by delegates of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations to the Command Headquarters on Monday, May 12, 2026.

The delegation, led by the Chairperson of the institute, Onyinye Ralph Nwachukwu, visited the Command in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police aimed at promoting stronger police-community relations and effective public engagement.

During the visit, the delegation commended the Abia State Police Command for its proactive measures in maintaining peace and security in the state, as well as its accessibility to members of the public and support for the institute.

The group also praised the Command’s sustained efforts in promoting professionalism, peace and public confidence through effective communication and community policing initiatives.

Particular commendation was given to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, for what the delegation described as timely and consistent updates on security matters and activities of the Command.

Receiving the delegation, the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa assured the institute of the Command’s continued support and commitment to collaboration with relevant professional bodies and stakeholders.

He urged members of the public and organizations to continue partnering with the Police by providing timely and useful information capable of preventing crime and enhancing security across the state.

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of the “See Something, Say Something” campaign, noting that stronger cooperation between the Police and the public would further boost efforts at combating crime and criminality in Abia State.

He added that sustained partnership and information sharing remained critical to guaranteeing peace, law and order in the state.
