Isuikwuato Prepares for Grand Reception as Otti Commissions Nunya–Eluama–Ogboro Road

Residents of Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State are gearing up for a major celebration as Governor Alex Otti is set to commission the newly reconstructed 10.8-kilometreNunya–Eluama–Ogboro Road on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

The road project, which traverses several communities within the council area, is being widely celebrated by residents who described it as a landmark intervention capable of transforming economic and social activities in the area.

For many years, the Nunya–Eluama–Ogboro Road was reportedly in a deplorable state, causing severe hardship to commuters, traders, farmers, students and residents who relied on the route for daily movement and business activities.

Previous attempts to rehabilitate the road were said to have yielded little result, leaving communities along the axis frustrated over the years.

However, the reconstruction of the road by the administration of Governor Otti has changed the narrative, with residents commending the state government for delivering what they described as a durable and modern road infrastructure.

Many stakeholders in the area believe the project will significantly improve transportation, boost local commerce, enhance rural connectivity and open up economic opportunities for communities within Isuikwuato and adjoining areas.

Ahead of the commissioning ceremony, indications show that residents are already mobilizing in large numbers to receive the governor in appreciation of the project and other developmental strides of his administration.

As part of activities lined up for the event, a grand civic reception in honour of Governor Otti is expected to hold at the Isuikwuato High School (Annunco) Field, where political leaders, traditional rulers, women and youth groups, business owners, community leaders and supporters from different political parties are expected to converge.

Organisers of the event have also called on friends and well-wishers of Isuikwuato to participate in what residents described as a celebration of impactful governance and fulfilled promises.

Excitement has continued to build across the local government area as preparations intensify for what many observers believe could become one of the biggest public gatherings witnessed in the area in recent times.

Residents noted that beyond the physical infrastructure, the Nunya–Eluama–Ogboro Road project symbolizes renewed hope, inclusion and the commitment of the present administration to rural development across the state.
The event is expected to attract dignitaries from different parts of Abia State and beyond.
