Abia Harmonized Task Force Embarks on Retraining to Strengthen Enforcement Standards

The Abia State Harmonized Task Force has launched a comprehensive retraining program aimed at improving discipline, professionalism, and service delivery among its operatives.

The program, currently taking place at the Jack Building Auditorium in Umuahia, is part of a broader reform initiative by the state government to enhance enforcement practices and align them with international standards.

Declaring the session open, Chairman of the Task Force, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu, said the training was designed to instill core values such as integrity, accountability, and excellence in public service. He emphasized that the retraining is not just about procedures but about reshaping attitudes and reinforcing the role of officers as partners in governance.

Prince Nwachukwu commended Governor Dr. Alex Otti for his continued support and vision for a transparent, accountable, and citizen-friendly enforcement system. He noted that the administration’s reforms are already yielding results in areas such as orderliness, revenue generation, and public trust.

the chairman encouraged participants to put the lessons learned into practice, adding that “the reward for hard work is more work,” as he called for sustained commitment to professionalism and public service.

“This program is about raising the bar,” Nwachukwu stated. “We are not only giving our officers new uniforms but also a renewed sense of duty, professionalism, and ethical conduct.”

He said retraining is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency and public perception of the Abia State Harmonized Task Force as a key instrument in the government’s drive for order and development.

The week-long exercise features intensive sessions on ethics, conflict resolution, effective communication, teamwork, and human rights, delivered by security experts and professional facilitators.

A highlight of the training was the formal introduction of a new Code of Conduct, which was distributed and signed by all operatives as a commitment to uphold higher standards in the discharge of their duties. New uniforms were also issued as part of efforts to boost morale and reinforce a disciplined outlook.

Among those present at the event were Hon. Chimeremeze Okigbo Okoro, Managing Director of Abia Microfinance Bank; Lady Victoria Onwubiko, Managing Director of the Abia State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ABSAA); and Chief Fidel Ihemere, Director of Operations for the Task Force.
