Abia Unveils New Enyimba Coach, Announces Sweeping Reform

The Abia State Government has unveiled a new head coach for Enyimba International F.C., alongside far-reaching administrative reforms aimed at restoring the club’s status in domestic and continental football.

Governor Alex Otti announced the appointment of Mr. Emmanuel Dutch as Head Coach during a strategic meeting with the club’s management at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Engr.Ikechukwu Emetu, also confirmed the appointment of Mr. Daniel Eke as Sporting Director.

As part of the restructuring, the governor approved the removal of the club’s accountant, describing the move as necessary to strengthen transparency, accountability and operational efficiency.

The changes follow growing concerns over administrative lapses and welfare issues that have reportedly affected players’ morale and on-field performance.

Addressing the management, technical crew and players, the deputy governor conveyed the administration’s commitment to immediately clear all outstanding arrears, including unpaid salaries, allowances and match bonuses owed to players and staff.

He stressed that the government is determined to reposition the club through improved welfare and sound management practices.

“The government is resolute in restoring Enyimba to greatness,” he said, urging players to embrace the new leadership and work closely with Coach Dutch to return the club to its “rightful place in world football.”

In his acceptance remarks, Coach Emmanuel Dutch thanked the state government for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to instill discipline, professionalism and a renewed tactical identity within the squad. He assured supporters that he would collaborate closely with the new Sporting Director and management to revive the club’s winning culture.

Earlier, team captain Kalu Nweke, assistant captain Ufere Chinedu and senior player Eze Ekwutosi highlighted the challenges confronting the club, citing unpaid salaries and bonuses, as well as inadequate medical and welfare support for injured players.

They appealed to the government for urgent intervention to stabilize the club and restore confidence within the squad.
With a new technical leadership in place and firm assurances on welfare reforms, expectations are mounting that Enyimbawidely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most successful football clubs will begin a new chapter marked by stability, professionalism and renewed continental ambition.
