CP Isa Holds Strategic Security Conference with Senior Police Officers in Abia.

The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Danladi Isa, has held a strategic conference with senior officers of the Command, charging them to enhance security operations and improve response time to incidents across the state.

The meeting, which took place on Monday at the State Police Headquarters in Umuahia, brought together Area Commanders, Squadron Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Team Commanders and Heads of Departments.

CP Isa reiterated key directives issued by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, during his maiden lecture with strategic officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

He urged officers to strictly enforce law and order while adopting proactive policing strategies rather than reacting only after crimes have been committed.

The Commissioner of Police also directed officers to intensify visibility policing and strengthen crime prevention measures within their various areas of responsibility to enhance public safety.

The CP stressed the need for senior officers to properly supervise their subordinates. He instructed them to ensure officers maintain neatness and appear in the prescribed police uniforms at all times as a reflection of discipline within the Force.

He further emphasized respect for citizens’ rights during investigations and security operations, warning that supervisory officers would be held vicariously liable for any abuse of human rights. He also reminded officers that arrest by proxy remains unlawful and unprofessional.

CP Isa directed officers to enforce the existing ban on the use of tinted vehicle glasses and covered number plates by members of the public, in accordance with extant laws.

Tactical teams were also cautioned to operate strictly within the provisions of the Police Act and other regulations guiding police operations.

The Commissioner informed the officers that the physical and credential screening exercise for police constables is currently ongoing and warned against any form of corruption or undue interference in the process.

He also directed officers to strengthen security around schools, places of worship and other public facilities across the state, while cautioning them against engaging in illegal or unauthorized duties.

The CP reminded officers that every police officer serves as a public relations representative of the Force in their daily interactions with citizens. He urged them to conduct themselves professionally and avoid actions that could bring the Force into disrepute.

CP Isa also stressed the importance of improving response time to incidents and distress calls, directing officers to ensure that emergency responses occur within five to ten minutes where possible in order to strengthen public trust and confidence in the police.

The conference formed part of ongoing efforts by the Command to improve operational efficiency and reinforce internal discipline among personnel in the state.
