GOV. OTTI PLANNING FOR A SUSTAINABLE SOLAR ENERGY POWER PROJECT

Abia state governor Dr Alex Otti is working hard to build a sustainable solar energy power project in the state through collaboration with an international organisation known as The International Solar Alliance (ISA ) .

Disclosing this on 17th August 2025 , at the government house Umuahia after the Week’s Executive Council meeting headed by the state governor Dr Alex Otti ,the state Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu said the collaboration is meant to develop regulations for the operation of the mini grid in the state .

He said the collaboration is an intergovernmental treaty based Organisation with about 123 member nations , noting that the collaboration was part of the state government’s agenda to play actively in the power sector, through investments to attract private capital investment into the sector . For the private sector to thrive .
This is a $750 million World Bank intervention and renewable energy development
programme . The Commissioner noted .

The Commissioner revealed that Abia State’s Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) have deployed 2.7 tonne receptacles around the cities of Aba and Umuahia . He noted that the receptacles are smaller in size than the previous ones that were being used before now, adding that the small receptacles are advantageous as they can navigate through roads and streets that are not wide enough . ASEPA the Commissioner hinted have
also embarked on the massive clean-up of major waterways and drainages around Umuahia, to forestall flooding the Capital city in this raining season .

The Commissioner warned those publishing false information against the state government to desist forthwith or henceforth face the wrath of the law . He said the state government is not against criticisms but they should be constructive and not meant to malign the Image of the state.

He revealed that a total number of 1,983 persons applied for the ongoing recruitment of health workers, out of which , 1,348 applicants have so far been shortlisted , the exercise is still on going

He observed that the Computer Based Test would be conducted between the 26th and 30th of August and interview for successful applicants would hold from 2nd to 26th of September 2025. .

He also disclosed that the Civil Service Commission has advertised for Contract Consultants, Primary consultants and Medical Officers, he said the portal for these set of applicants would close by the 30th of August, 2025.

The Information boss announced the appointment of Dr Friday Kanu Ohuche as Chief Economic Adviser and the Inauguration of Abia State Economic Management Team led by Governor Alex Otti himself.
