SECURITY AGENTS KILL ONE SUSPECTED CRIMINAL.

A suspected Criminal and cultist have been killed in Umuahia the Abia State Capital by men of a special Security outfit in the state .

The state Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu disclosed this to pressman while briefing them on Monday the 23rd of June 2025 at the government house Umuahia on the outcome of the week’s Executive Council meeting presided over by the state governor Dr Alex Otti . According to the Commissioner, a patrol team of men of operation Crush received a distress call that a man has been matcheted by Cultists around Imo lane in Umuahia. When the team arrived the scene, they fired a warning shot which hit one of the suspects who died later the other members of the gang took to their heels , the team however. arrested a member of the Suspected Cultists said to be armed with a locally made pistol. The commissioner said the police are currently investigating the incident.

The Information Commissioner also disclosed that the Abia State Medical City would be flagged off by the state governor Dr Alex Otti , on the 10th of July 2025 . The centre he said is occupying a land area of about 200 acres of land the hospital when fully completed and fully equipped would serve the medical needs of the state and beyond. The city shall amongst other amenities have a five star hotel , a 1000 bed capacity hospital. It is expected to serve as a tourist Centre ,a revenue generating facility for the state . According to Prince Okey Kanu, the project will cost about 1.3 billion dollars it is being built in partnership with MKP International Projects , the medical City is expected to be finished in 24 months time .

The state government shall soon flag off the rehablitation of 11 rural roads and 3 markets under the rural roads Agency RAMP . The roads will cut across the 17 LGAs of the state while the markets are in the 3 Senatorial zones.The markets are Obinto market , Eke Uzuakoli and Ndoro. market in Ikwuano LGA. This project is in partnership with World Bank under world bank Assisted Projects. The state shall pay 1.4 billion Naira as her counterpart fund.

Governent shall on the 26th of July introduce Sanitary Inspectors across the 17 LGAs of the state . On roads under Direct Labour , work is on going on 48 locations 2 have been completed while 3 additional roads have been added .

Prince Okey Kanu hinted that for total cleaniness of the state , the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency ASEPA is now operating in the three Senatorial zones of the state . Sequel to this the Agency have received 26 receptacles all fabricated in Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic Aba . The Commissioner said this is meant to facilitate the total cleanliness of all parts of the state , noting that the Agency is now fully involved in desilting and evacuating waste from gutters .
