THE 25 YEAR DEVELOPMENT GROWTH PLAN WILL BRING ABIA TO THE COMMUNITY OF PROSPEROUS AND DEVELOPED STATES IN NIGERIA

The Governor of Abía State have Dr Alex Otti declared that the proposed 25 year Development Growth plan if religiously implemented will bring the state among the league of prosperous and developed states in Nigeria.

The Abia state Information Commissioner Prince Okey Kanu stated this as coming from the state governor Dr. Alex Otti on Monday 8th of December 2025 during the weekly Executive Council meeting.

Shading more light on the outcome of the meeting , the Commissioner told the press at government’ house Umuahia that the governor would on 16 of December 2025 unveil the 25 year Development plan construed by his administration.
According to the Commissioner,the plan will chart a transformative roadmap for Abia State, anchoring on collective vision for economic resilience, infrastructural expansion, social advancement and generational security into the middle of this century Prince Kanu stated.

Prince Kanu noted that the Development Plan is structured to rest on six key pillars, including; people and resources, growth and stability, sustainable economy, social infrastructure and inclusion, governance and reform, and cross-sector linkages.

He maintained that, upon implementation, the plan would help to build a dynamic and inclusive economy by unlocking local potentials and attracting global investment across key sectors in the state.

He added that, the plan seeks a future of modern climate resilient infrastructure, including clean energy, digital connectivity and sustainable urban planning, and assured that,
“The plan will be governed by strong institutions that promote transparency, citizen participation, while ensuring peace, security and inclusive development.

“On the whole, the future-ready Development Plan, if religiously implemented, will take Abia State to the totem pole of economic well-being and development among the community of states in Nigeria . He said the former 30 year development plan of 2020 was reviewed because it was a plan triggered off by COVID 19 .

The Commissioner announced that, the 2nd Abia International Trade Fair comes up on Tuesday, 9th December at the Trade Fair grounds in Abia, while the opening ceremony will hold by 11.00am same day .

He informed that All the 17 Local Government Areas in the State have procured stands to exhibit and showcase products from their individual LGAs, adding that there would be exhibition of products by various SMEs based within Abia and other parts of Nigeria .

Prince Okey Kanu announced that the state made a savings of #2.5b Naira from medical missions reveling that Abia will host a global medical outreach through coloborations with some other international medical organisations early next year .
He state that nobody in the state have died as a result of out break of any terminal disease such as Cholera Difteria, Lassa fever Empox ,and Yellow fever .
