APC Committed to Better Life for Nigerians” — Chris Akomas

The National Chairman of the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria, Dr. Chris Akomas, has reaffirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains dedicated to improving the quality of life and making living more affordable for Nigerians.

Dr. Akomas made this statement at his country home in Nenu, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, where he formally received new members who defected from other political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), into the ruling APC.

Describing the APC as not only the largest political party in the country but also a strategic and inclusive platform, Dr. Akomas emphasized its commitment to broad-based participation and national development.

Among those who joined the APC were the member representing Obingwa West in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr; former Obingwa LGA Chairman, Hon. George Ubani; Hon. Chikezirim Monday Orji; and more than 5,000 supporters. Stakeholders described the mass defection as a significant boost for the APC in Abia State.

Welcoming the defectors, Dr. Akomas called for unity and collective purpose in serving the people and strengthening Nigeria’s democracy. He noted that Erondu Jnr, Chairman of the House Committee on Public Service Matters, was a founding member of the APC in Abia State and served as the party’s first Administrative Secretary in the state alongside Chief Nyerere Chinenye Anyim, the party’s pioneer National Vice Chairman from Abia.

He expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for responding to what he described as a clarion call to return to the APC, voicing confidence that his move would reinforce the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dr. Akomas assured party faithful that they would work collaboratively for the progress of Nigeria, the development of Abia State, and the advancement of Obingwa Local Government Area, ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach the grassroots.

In his remarks, Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr pledged to continue delivering effective representation. He urged the people of Obingwa, Abia State, the South-East, and Nigeria at large to support the APC.

He also commended Dr. Akomas, a former Federal Commissioner who represented Abia State at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission in Abuja, for his leadership in fostering unity and championing development in the area.

Notable APC leaders present at the event included Chief Sam Nkire, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees; Chief Nyerere Chinenye Anyim; and former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Christopher Enweremadu. Others in attendance were Hon. Uche Nwankpa, Sir Ebere Nwachukwu, Elder Godwin Nnah, and Hon. Aaron Uzodike.

A highlight of the occasion was the symbolic presentation of the APC broom and party flag to the new members, marking their formal entry into the party.
