City Boy Movement Reaffirms Tinubu as Sole 2027 Candidate, Unveils Youth Empowerment Structure in Abia

The Abia State chapter of the City Boy Movement has reaffirmed its endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, declaring its commitment to aligning the state with the centre of national political decision-making.

The resolution was reached at the Movement’s inaugural Town Hall meeting held in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

The gathering drew leaders, grassroots coordinators, youth and women representatives, and stakeholders from the 17 local government areas of the state.

The event was presided over by the Movement’s Patron and former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, alongside the State Director, Lucky Igbokwe.

Delivering the keynote address, Igbokwe described the reaffirmation of President Tinubu’s candidacy as a strategic decision anchored on continuity, stability and regional inclusion. He said the endorsement was based on structure and long-term political positioning rather than sentiment.

“Development does not come from noise; it comes from participation. If we desire federal inclusion, infrastructure and youth empowerment, we must organize from the grassroots and speak with one voice,” he stated.

He urged members to make their support coordinated and visible, stressing that political opportunities respond to organization and active engagement.

In his remarks, Orji emphasized disciplined engagement and peaceful mobilization, noting that Abia’s developmental goals require unity and strategic alignment with the federal government.

“Our people deserve infrastructure, jobs and opportunity, and that demands political solutions, not confrontation,” he said, adding that sustained investment in young people remains critical to long-term peace and prosperity in the state.
A major highlight of the Town Hall was the unveiling of a structured Youth Mobilization and Federal Access Framework aimed at creating measurable pathways for young people across Abia State.

According to the Movement, key components of the initiative include the compilation of qualified youth nominees across wards and local government areas for federal agency consideration, expansion of scholarship opportunities and structured skills acquisition programmes, and the establishment of a coordinated ward-to-state engagement structure focused on peaceful grassroots mobilization.

Igbokwe described youth empowerment as the central pillar of the Movement’s political and development agenda ahead of 2027, insisting that empowerment must move beyond rhetoric to institutionalized action.

The group also adopted a grassroots-first strategy, directing coordinators to strengthen ward and LGA structures in preparation for the next general elections.
Plans were announced for active participation in the Movement’s National Convention scheduled for May 13, 2026, in Owerri, where state chapters are expected to demonstrate their organizational capacity.

In a vote of thanks delivered on behalf of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Hon. Ogbonna Ukuku reiterated that support for President Tinubu remains collective and unequivocal.

The Town Hall ended with a message of unity, structure and disciplined mobilization, positioning the Abia chapter of the City Boy Movement as organized and actively preparing for the 2027 elections.
