ABIA STATE LOCAL GOVT CHAIRMEN CHIDE OPPOSITION PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON GOV. OTTI

The Seventeen local government Chairmen /Mayors in Abia state have passed a vote of confidence on the governor of Abia State Dr. Alex Otti berating those complaining over the administration of the governor in the state .

This development was contained in a 14 point communique read before the press by the state’s ALGON Chairman Hon. Chinedu Ekeke of Isuikwuato LGA on Friday the 16th day of January 2026 at the government house Umuahia. According to the communique ,ALGON , Abia state recognizes the rights of citizens as it concerns their freedom of expression and association . Moreso that the records of Dr Otti as governor of the state indicates that the governor have delivered dividends of democracy across the 17 LGAs of the state. The Body stated that they observed that people were not happy with former administrations of the state but today people are happy with the government of Dr. Alex Otti .

They said that there is wide spread confidence by the grassroot on Governor Otti’s administration and this is due to positive impacts being experienced at the grassroots . They noted that In any Democratic settings , Leadership is determined by elections not through pronouncements, declarations or political gang ups but public discourse must be imbued with facts not falsehood and exaggerations as such they hold on to tenets that says Facts are Sacred. Abia ALGON condemn the attempt for any body or group to try to cast aspersions on the progress being made in the state through speculative political rhetorics .

They maintained that the problem is not poor performance but the fact that what Gov. Otti have achieved in less than 3 years in office surpassed what was achieved by past administrations put together in the state . ALGON Abia State called on all political actors in the state to do their opposition constructively to engender progress ,peace and unity in the state rather than resorting to divisive and distracting tendencies.

ALGON Abia chapter expressed their total support to the administration of governor Alex Otti stating that Abia is on the part of Renewal and Progress as such they unanimously support the re election of Dr Alex Otti as governor of Abia state come 2027 and for these , they have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the state governor Dr. Alex Otti .

Speaking during
question and answer session , the Chairman of ALGON Abia State Hon. Chinedu Ekeke explained that the issue of autonomy for the local government system is still in progress . He was quick to disagree that the state government tempers with local government financial allocations or funds saying that LGA funds come from Joint Account Allocation Committee JAAC .
