Police, NDLEA Strengthen Collaboration to Tackle Drug Abuse, Crime in Abia
The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, on Wednesday received the Abia State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), CN Chigbu Odomelam Chilee, and his management team on a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters.
The visit was aimed at fostering stronger institutional ties between both agencies, with emphasis on intelligence and information sharing, operational cooperation, and improved access to police support when required.
The NDLEA Commander also commended the Abia State Police Command for its continued efforts in ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the state.
Welcoming the delegation, CP Danladi Isa congratulated CN Chilee on his appointment and assured him of the Command’s commitment to sustaining and strengthening the existing collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the NDLEA in Abia State
The Police Commissioner noted that drug abuse remains a persistent social challenge, particularly among youths, and identified it as a major factor contributing to criminal activities, as many offenders derive courage from substance abuse.
He assured the NDLEA Commander that all drug-related cases arrested by the Police would be promptly transferred to the Agency for appropriate action
CP Isa further emphasized that the NDLEA should not hesitate to seek the assistance of the Police Command whenever the need arises, stressing the importance of synergy in achieving shared security objectives.
He encouraged continuous partnership between the two agencies, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration would significantly contribute to the realization of a drug-free and crime-free Abia State.
