OGBONNAYA ONU POLY RECTOR CELEBRATES MOTHER IN-LAW’S RETIREMENT IN STYLE SAY GOV. OTTI IS DOING WELL IN THE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR

The Rector of Dr Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic Aba, Prof .Christopher Okoro have on the 9th of January 2026 celebrated his mother inlaw’s retirement from active life service, in a very colorful style that drew admiration from all present at the event .

Speaking at the occassion which took place in Idima Abam in Arochukwu LGA , the Rector described his mother Inlaw Mrs Rose Okpanku Okenkuma as his mother saying she has been very supportive to him and his family through prayers and advices . He said Mrs Okenkuma the mother of his wife who is another pillar of support in his life , the mother is worth celebrating for who she is and for the inestimable virtues deposited in her by God . He prayed for contineous long life and good health for the mother Inlaw who retired at age 63 .

He commended the Abia state governor Dr Alex Otti for making enough provision for the educational sector in the 2026 budget , saying education would continue to witness massive transformation in 2026 .

The wife of the Rector Mrs Okoro who is the daughter of Mrs Rose Okpanku Okenkuma said she is full of happiness to be alive and see her mother retire from active service life known as “Igbotonma”, and being celebrated while alive .She described her mother as a kind hearted mother and a prayer Warrior . She expressed her gratitude to her husband Prof Chris Okoro and all that came to celebrate with the entire Okenkuma family praying for longer life for her mother as she lives on in good health.

Another inlaw of Mrs Okenkuma Engr. Dr. Joseph Igbo a lecturer at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike said parents should be appreciated by their children so that when children grow they will in turn be appreciated by their children . He noted that it is his desire to be alive to celebrate his parents retirement from active service . He prayed for long life and good health for the Celebrant as she celebrates her retirement .

The Member representing Arochukwu state Constituency and majority Leader of Abia state House of Assembly Hon. Okoro Uchenna Kalu said he is happy being part of the celebration , which he termed Celebration of Grace .saying for mama to be alive to witness her celebration is grace . Most of her mates who wish to celebrate their retirement are gone , but here she is celebrating . we the children celebrating with her , we feel very fulfilled because we are not celebrating her death. He prayed for strength and good health and for more years for the Celebrant. Hon Kalu used the occassion to disclose that the Abia House of Assembly is currently going through a bill that borders on the welfare of the Elderly in the state . He observed that the bill has undergone it’s second reading at the floor of the house .

One of the Invites , Chief Ugah Oge described the event as a special one , for one to be alive and be celebrated colourfully by members of her immediate family is worth giving thanks to God and he is happy to be part of the celebration .

Speaking , a friend of Okenkuma family, Mr James Ogbuka Umekwe said it is a thing of joy for one to be alive and be celebrated by her children . He prayed for madam Rose Okenkuma to live a longer live with more celebrations.

In her response, the Chief Celebrant Mrs Rose Okenkuma thanked all who came to celebrate with her , especially her children ,Inlaws , friends and well wishers especially one of her inlaws Prof Chris Okoro of Ogbonnaya Onu Poly Aba. She expressed her gratitude to them all for all the love they all showered on her . She prayed God’s guidance and Protection on each and every one of them and their families. Saying they all would be alive to be celebrated by their Children.
