END OF YEAR MEDIA CHAT GOV.OTTI RECOUNTS ACHIEVEMENTS IN MAJOR SECTORS
The Abia State Governor Dr.Alex Óttï have in brief recounted some of his achievements in almost all the sectors of the economy of the state .
Speaking during the December 2025 edition of the monthly media chat with the governor which took place at the banquet hall government’ house Umuahia , The governor said on roads infrastructure , work is on going on some roads in the state , while several roads have been completed , work is in going in others . The state he said shall continue her zero tolerance to portholes on Abia roads by filling any pothole found on the roads .
On Health sector , the governor stated that his government’ will continue the renovation and putting into function the Primary Health Care Centres under the Ekwueme Project . He said about 200 PHCs have been renovated and functioning optimally and his administration would not stop till all the pHCs are fully renovated and put into use for the good of the people.
Gov. Otti said he would continue to work with professionals in the health sector following good result been recorded such as Abia State winning the leadership Challenge award and other awards in the health sector .
On the Educational sector , the Chief Executive said alot have been recorded here . He maintained that his government’ is currently on renovation and fencing of schools and the second phase of this would be to procure Security for the schools.
He said his government’ employed 5000 Teachers recently and another 4000 in the phase 2 of the recruitment exercise. He reiterated his commitment at providing quality education for the state.
In the Transport sector governor Otti said he would continue to improve transportation in the state noting that the state government have procured 100 Electric Buses to ease transportation difficulties in the state 20 of the buses have since arrived the state while others will arrive soon . Dr. Otti said he went for the buses to enable the state cue into the Environmental Sustainability Standard ESS. The Chiefs Executive rode on the electric bus to Ukwa West LGA , and testified that the electric buses were good and soundless without emitting any smoke. The buses he said gives a very smooth movement fully sir conditioned it gives a comfortable ride . The governor say his office have received alot of commendation s from people far and near the state over the procurement of the electric buses .
In the power sector his government’ have recorded laudable achievements with notable impact on the economy. He said Aba now enjoy steady power supply and plans are afoot to replicate same in Umuahia. In few days time , power supply would be fully restored in Ohafia, while the transformer in Ukwa West that has kept the people of that area in darkness , was few days ago switched on by the governor himself , thereby restoring light in the communities affected . In a similar development , the state Chief Executive once again announced that the state have been given the authority by the National Electricity Regulatory Commission NERC in Abuja to regulate Electricity
power in the state . This means that Abia as a state would among other things generate , regulate and sell electricity power in the state through the Abia state Electricity Regulatory Authority ASERA .
He promised that the 8 local government areas under the control of EEDC would soon be surrendered to the state while the government is negotiating with Geo metric to increase gas supply for the state .
Governor Otti proclaimed that Abia State government’ have taken over some moribund industries in the state . Industries such as Star Paper Mill Aba among others while discussions are on going to take over completely , the Aba Glass Industries , Aba Textile mill Modern Ceramics Umuahia among others . He said the essence of these acquisitions is to create employment for youths in the state and improve the internally generated revenue of the state .
The governor observed that work is going on on the Umuahia Bus Terminal While another bus terminal shall be built in Aba. The number one man of the state made it clear that he is not defecting to any other Political Party with Obi but will stay put in Labour party.
