EVERY CHILD IN ABIA IS MY BABY SAYS ABIA GOV”S WIFE AS SHE DONATES TO MOTHERLESS BABIES HOMES

The wife of the governor of Abia State Mrs Priscilla Chidinma Otti have reiterated that every Child in the state is her child .

The Abia mother made this assertion while on a tour of motherless Babies Homes and Vulnerable Institution’s a cross the state
where she donated food items, sanitary supplies, and cash support of ₦1 million each.

The First Lady visited the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Motherless Babies Home in Aba, the Ngwa Road Motherless Babies Home, and the Victims of Need Social and Motherless Babies Home (VNSMBH), distributing bags of rice, cartons of pasta and tomato paste, gallons of groundnut oil, toiletries, sanitary items, and cash to support the care of abandoned and motherless children.

Speaking during the visits, Mrs. Otti said the outreach was inspired by the new year and her desire to ensure that vulnerable children and caregivers are not forgotten. She reaffirmed her commitment to child welfare, recalling her declaration at the start of the administration that every Abia child is her child.

She stated that the Abia State Government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs and the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, is intensifying efforts to eliminate baby factories and curb child trafficking and exploitation in the state.

Mrs. Otti added that the state government continues to support motherless babies’ homes and similar institutions with food supplies, essential materials, and financial assistance to ease the burden on caregivers. She commended caregivers for their dedication and selfless service.

She further reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Alex C. Otti’s administration to the consistent support of vulnerable groups across the state.

In their separate remarks, the Director of Nursing Services at the SDA Motherless Babies Home, Mrs. Angela Ndubuisi; a Trustee of the Ngwa Road Motherless Babies Home, Arc. Amechi; and the Director of VNSMBH, Mrs. Von Obiegbunam, expressed appreciation to the First Lady for her visit and donations .

Meanwhile, in Umuahia, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. (Mrs.) Maureen Aghukwa, represented the First Lady during a similar outreach to St. Vincent De Paul Home for the Mentally and Physically Challenged, Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy Compassion Home, and So Said Charity Home, where assurances of continued support were conveyed.

In another development, the Wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, visited the Arochukwu Correctional Facility to reassure the inmates of their value and give them a sense of belonging.

Speaking on behalf of Her Excellency, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Affairs, Mrs. Chinenye Nwaka, encouraged the inmates to embrace positive change and desist from actions that could lead them back into incarceration. She noted that correctional facilities are established to reform and prepare individuals for a better life after custody, expressing confidence that the inmates would emerge as improved and responsible members of society.
She added that the visit was to assure them that they are neither abandoned nor forgotten.

The Controller of the Abia State Correctional Facility, Mrs. Nwanyanwu Ifeoma Blessing, commended the Wife of the Governor for her consistent support and compassion toward inmates.

She described Mrs. Otti as a dependable friend of the correctional system, noting that her engagements extend beyond the Arochukwu facility to other correctional centres across the state.

According to her, these interventions have included skill acquisition programmes, provision of food items, cash support, and reading materials aimed at rehabilitation and reintegration .
