ABSU REGAINS FULL TETFUND SPONSORSHIPS V C COMMENDS GOVERNOR’S INTERVENTIONS

The new management in Abia State University Uturu led by prof. Ndukwe Okeudo say the school have regained full TETFUND SPONSORSHIPS and
accreditations

The Vice Chancellor Prof . Ndukwe Okeudo , stated this on the 24th of March 2026 at the conference hall of the Vice Chancellor, while briefing the press on the land mark achievements recorded by his administration in the school and the various activities marking the celebration of the combined convocation ceremony of the 30th ,31st and 32nd convocation of the school slated to take place from 24th to 27th of March 2026 .

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Okeudo revealed that his administration in the school have been able to revive TETFund Research Grants in ABSU which was banned before his advent as the V C of the School. Today TETFund he said have approved 33 Institution Based Research Proposals IBR and have paid 60 percent first installment to the Lead Researchers and Co Researchers of ABSU .

According to him, more proposals are expected to be approved soon . The research programs cut accross several disciplines and might engage up to 234 members of the Academic Staff.
ABSU , Prof. Okeudo said have also regained access to TETFund sponsorship of Local and international Conferences including sponsorship of Academic Staff Training and Development which made it possible for ABSU to submit the names of 100 staff of the University both academic and non-academic staff for training while TETFund have also agreed to fund PhD programs of Nine Academic staff of the school in various Universities in Nigeria .

Researchers in the school have discovered plants that can be used to cure prostrate cancer, diarrhea and wounds . The Researchers have also discovered several other products that enhance human Welfare development , these the V C said have been published in highly global reputable magazines and journals .

The Vice Chancellor said ABSU have gotten full accreditation of 8 Academic programs which include Law , Agriculture , Mass Communication among others including the Engineering departments which got full professional Accreditation from Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria . More accreditations are expected in the nearest future.

Prof. Ukeudo who became VC of SBSU on the 1st day of November 2024 said the school administration under his watch , was able to unite the formerly Fragmented ALUMNI Associations Of the school into one big family . Today they hold their meeting as one big body .

prof. Okeudo used the opportunity to appreciate the State Governor and Visitor to the University Dr. Àllex Chioma Otti for his laudable in
Intervention projects going on in the School . Some of the projects include a law faculty building , a 5,000 bed capacity hostel for male students and another 5,000 bed capacity hostel for female students . He was full of praises for the governor for clearing the backlog of 11 months salary arrears owe workers of the Institution both Academic and non-academic Staff and have continued to effect promotion arrears .

According to the V C , the convocation proper is expected to kick off on Wednesday the 25th of March 2026 with Books and Arts Exhibition and later with a Novelty Foot ball. March .

The grand finale comes up on the 27th of March where degrees shall be awarded to deserving scholars of the school while Honorary doctorate degrees will be awarded to 3 distinguished personalities of this country Nigeria ,They are the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi ,
Barr. Allen Onyema the CEO of Air Peace Ltd and Dr. Stella Okolie MD , CEO Emzor Pharmaceutical
