Group Rallies Support for Otti, Picks Anyaso for Bende Reps Race

A socio-political group in Abia State, the O.Y.O. Movement, has declared its support for the re-election of Governor Alex Otti, while also endorsing Chima Anyaso as its preferred candidate for the Bende Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced during a gathering held in Igberre, located in Bende Local Government Area of the state. At the event, the group conferred on Anyaso the title of Grand Patron, pledging its full backing for his political aspiration.

Speaking on behalf of the group, its leader, Uchechukwu Oguike, said the honour was in recognition of Anyaso’s extensive humanitarian efforts

He noted that the philanthropist’s interventions span education, healthcare delivery, youth and women empowerment, as well as the provision of business grants.

Oguike disclosed that more than 35 notable philanthropists were initially considered for the position, but Anyaso emerged as the most deserving due to what he described as his consistent and far-reaching impact on society.

The group further assured that it would mobilize grassroots support to ensure Anyaso’s emergence as a member of the House of Representatives.

It emphasized that his track record of service, even without holding public office, underscores his capacity to provide effective, people-oriented leadership if elected.

In his response, Dr. Chima Anyaso expressed gratitude to the O.Y.O. Movement for the recognition and endorsement. He urged members to maintain discipline and uphold the values of the group.

He also called on eligible voters across the state to ensure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are updated ahead of the elections.

Anyaso used the opportunity to encourage continued support for Governor Otti’s administration, noting that sustained backing would help consolidate ongoing developmental efforts in the state.

He also appealed for support for his candidacy, promising to replicate similar progress and representation for the people of Bende Federal Constituency.
