ABIA GOVT REVIVES ENYIMBA SHOE AND GARMENT COMPANIES IN ABA

The governor Óttï led administration in Abia State have fully restored two companies in Aba, the Enyimba Shoe company and Enyimba Garments Factories into full scale production , after years of doldrum and inactivity .

The State’s Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu made this known on Wednesday, July 7, 2026 at Government House Umuahia, while briefing the press in government house Umuahia, on some of the issues that came up during the week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
The Commissioner said the successful revival story of both Companies , is as a result of government’s commitment to Industrial revolution in the state and the introduction of a new management led by Ms Nena Kalu Ogba to manage the affairs of both companies . The Commissioner said the companies were revived to among other things enhance job creation and boost the economy of the state .
He said the new management are going ahead to develop new brand lines for their products that are now capable of competing in international markets .
The Information boss announced that the State Government will soon flag off the Pocket Layout Industrial Estate project, and said that the initiative is designed to provide functional and affordable housing for residents of the state .l
He said the procurement process for the project has reached an advanced stage, with bids from prospective contractors already opened and the list of successful bidders expected to be published very soon.
He further informed that the project comprises two components, including the Old Civil Service Commission premises and the defunct Abia Hotels complex, adding that they are currently being cleared to enable construction works begin.
Contributing, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Enyimba Automated Shoe Company Limited and Enyimba Garment Factory Limited, Ms. Nena Kalu Ogba, said the state government have successfully revived two factories in Aba , the Enyimba Shoe company and the Enyimba garment Factory through the acquisition of modern production and finishing equipment to enable them compete with global brands.
“What we have done is to revive the two factories. And we have purchased new machines for finishing, so that we can compete favourably with global products. Now we have all the machines.
The Governor has been gracious enough to provide the funds to purchase new machineries”. ọgba stated.
Prince kanu Explained that the recently commissioned Smart School at Ogbo Ubakala Umuahia was intended to build a better future for Abia Children . He said the features of the school were carefully designed . He maintained that the Smart School has smart Infrastructural learning materials with a sound management system equipped with softwares .A well stocked Library , Teachers Resource Centre and Staff support Offices . The facility he said is powered by solar energy system and good water supply system.
He went further to say that the school was initially designed to accommodate 300 pupils but due to popular demand, the school was redesigned to accommodate 1000 pupils . He assured that all pupils studying in the school would be given a computer set to learn with till they graduate from the school. He made it clear that there is no favouritism in admitting pupils into the school and no pupil will be left behind the commissioner promised.
