ABIA  POLICE COMMAND APPREHENDS FOUR SUSPECTS FOR ROBBERY, MEMBERSHIP OF UNLAWFUL SOCIETY, AND ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FIREARM

The Abia State Police Command has arrested four suspects for offences bordering on criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, membership of an unlawful society, and unlawful possession of a firearm. The operation also led to the recovery of a locally made firearm and other incriminating items.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen C. Chinaka, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, the Command identified the suspects as Emmanuel Ifeanyi (22 years), Adiwo Chukwuemeka (27 years), Ogbonna John (27 years), and Hope Worenwu (23 years).

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include one (1) cut-to-size double-barrel locally made gun, four (4) live cartridges, one (1) black mask, two (2) mobile phones (iPhone 12 and Redmi), and three (3) caps, two of which bear the emblem of the De Norsemen Club International.

The arrest followed a complaint received on 27th October 2025 at the Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters from a student of Abia State University (ABSU), who reported that he had been accosted, assaulted, and dispossessed of his phone by unknown assailants.

Acting on credible intelligence, detectives from the Uturu Division swiftly apprehended the suspects, who were later identified as students of Abia State University. A search conducted on them led to the recovery of the aforementioned exhibits, and one of the phones was positively identified by the victim as his stolen property.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Vikings Confraternity. The case has since been transferred to the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command for discreet investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang still at large.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, commended the operatives for their swift and professional response. He also reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
