Police Rescue Three Stolen Children in Abia, Arrest Two Suspects for Child Trafficking

The Abia State Police Command has rescued three abducted children and reunited them with their families following the arrest of two women allegedly involved in child trafficking.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen C. Chinaka, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, the command identified the suspects as 30-year-old Chinasa Ukachukwu and 30-year-old Adaoma Sunday. The two women were apprehended after credible intelligence linked them to the disappearance of three minors.

According to police reports, the case began on October 4, 2024, when Mrs. Ukachukwu, a widow, reportedly left her home with her four children to attend a child dedication ceremony in Aba but returned two days later with only one. When questioned, she was unable to explain the whereabouts of the other three children.

Investigations led to the arrest of her accomplice, Adaoma Sunday, and the subsequent rescue of the missing children from Aba, Lagos, and Anambra States. The rescued minors have since been reunited with their families, while the suspects have been charged to court for prosecution.

The police command also recalled an earlier operation reported on October 10, 2025, in which eight infants and ten stolen children were rescued. Following that operation, two parents from Lagos State, Mr. Akinrinola Aliya Ayomide and Mr. Oladapo Olanipekun, identified and reclaimed their children after presenting the necessary proof of parentage.
