Abia Police Command Strengthens Ties with NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel

The Abia State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to sustained collaboration with the media, as the Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, on Wednesday received the newly elected leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abia State Chapter.

The NUJ delegation, led by its Chairman, Deacon Steve Oko, paid a courtesy visit to the Police Command Headquarters as part of efforts to familiarize the new leadership with the Command, identify areas of mutual interest, and strengthen cooperation between both institutions.

Speaking during the visit, Deacon Oko emphasized the critical role of security in the practice of journalism, noting that journalists can only operate professionally in a safe and conducive environment.

He commended the Abia State Police Command for the dedication and professionalism of its officers, adding that there has been noticeable improvement in the security situation across the state.

According to him, the improved security has enhanced the ability of journalists to carry out their constitutional responsibilities without fear or hindrance.

In his response, CP Danladi Isa warmly welcomed the NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel leadership and expressed appreciation for journalists in the state, whom he described as dependable partners in progress. He noted that the media in Abia State have consistently stood for truth and professionalism in their engagement with the Police.

The Commissioner assured the journalists of the Command’s continued support and openness to collaboration, stressing that a strong Police–media relationship remains vital to effective policing and public trust.

The meeting ended on a cordial note, with both parties expressing optimism for a stronger and more productive partnership in the interest of peace, security, and development in Abia State.
