ABIA STATE SECRETARY TO STATE GOVT EMBARKS ON LEAVE TO CANADA

The Abia State Secretary to the State Government Prof. Keneth Kalu have embarked on a leave of absence to Canada his former base .

According to a governor’s Aide on Media and Publicity Mr. Iyke Ekeoma , the state governor Dr . Alex Otti have given his approval for the SSG to proceed on the leave of absence saying that the duties of the SSG are quite enormous and tasking as such Prof . Kalu he said will not be able to combine his duties while outside the office .

The governor therefore wished Prof Kalu well in his future endeavours as he EMBARKS on his leave of absence.

Earlier in his speech during the Executives Council Meeting, session of the week , the SSG Prof Kalu thanked the governor for giving him the opportunity to serve in his government that Abians so much love and believe in . He said he is going away to Canada to attend to some domestic issues that require his personal attention . He promised to be of help any time his attention is needed by the government.

Abia SSG Professor Keneth Kalu Embarks On Leave Of Absence

The Secretary to Abia State Government, Professor Keneth Kalu has received the approval of His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti to embark on a leave of absence to enable him attend to some serious domestic matters that require his physical presence in Canada.

Governor Otti broke the news during the State Executive Council Meeting held on Monday December 8, 2025.

Governor Otti disclosed that given the enormity of task associated with the SSG’s office, he couldn’t persuade Prof Kalu to work remotely, and thanked him for the excellent services he rendered to the State during his stay as Secretary to the State Government while wishing him the very best as he commences his leave.

Addressing the State Exco, Professor Kalu expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for the opportunity to serve in a government that has made Abians proud, assuring his Colleagues that he would continue to contribute to the development of the state from afar.
According to Professor Kalu “Growing up, I had a vision of living a very simple and private life with a modest ambition, but looking at what I have accomplished in my life, I can only but thank God for his Grace. Above all, having the opportunity to serve in a government that has wiped the tears of Abia people and made them proud, was a dream come through, hence my gratitude to Governor Otti for his support.

Until his appointment, Professor Kalu was a Senior University Don in Canada but had to take a leave of Absence to be part of Governor Otti’s campaign and was later appointed the SSG following the Governor’s victory at the polls.

Professor Kalu, an accomplished Chartered Accountant hails from Abam in Arochukwu Local Government Area of the state.
