Bende Council Hosts Labour Party State Working Committee, Reaffirms Commitment to Development

The Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Elder Bassey Uwabunkeonye, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development during a visit by the Labour Party (LP) State Working Committee to the council headquarters on Wednesday.

Elder Uwabunkeonye described the visit as part of a statewide tour by the party, aimed at sensitising communities and evaluating local government administrations across Abia State.

According to the mayor, Bende was selected as a strategic stop due to its history as a stronghold of the opposition, highlighting the party’s growing presence in the state.

During the visit, Uwabunkeonye showcased several developmental projects under his administration, including the establishment of a five-in-one cassava processing mill the first of its kind in the area.

He explained that the facility would boost local agricultural production, enable large-scale gari processing, and create opportunities for future exports.

The mayor credited these achievements to the support and vision of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, noting that the projects align with the state’s broader transformation agenda.

He assured residents that his administration would continue prioritising development to ensure sustained progress for Bende and the state at large.
