Police Conclude 2026 Screening Exercise in Abia with 1,627 Applicants Processed.

The Abia State Police Command has successfully concluded its 2026 Physical and Credential Screening Exercise, marking the end of a six-week process during which a total of 1,627 applicants were assessed across the state.

The exercise, which commenced on March 9, 2026, was held at the Police Officers’ Mess, opposite Damgrete Hotel on Factory Road, Umuahia, and officially ended on April 18, 2026.

Authorities described the exercise as orderly, transparent, and professionally conducted throughout its duration.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the final week of the screening, which ran from April 13 to April 18, recorded 293 applicants.

Daily figures showed a steady turnout, with 51 applicants screened on both Monday and Tuesday, 48 on Wednesday, 59 on Thursday, 48 on Friday, and 36 on the concluding day, Saturday.

A broader breakdown shows that 322 applicants were screened during the first week, followed by 157 in the second week, 292 in the third week, 308 in the fourth week, 255 in the fifth week, and 293 in the final week.

This brings the cumulative total to 1,627 applicants screened throughout the entire exercise. The Command noted that the process maintained high standards of fairness and transparency, ensuring that all candidates were assessed under uniform conditions

Applicants who participated in the screening have been advised to remain patient as further updates regarding the next stages of the recruitment process will be communicated through official police channels and the designated portal.

The Abia State Command reaffirmed its commitment to a credible and merit-based recruitment process.
