GOVT COMMEND UMUAHIA RESIDENTS FOR COMPLIANCE

The Abia State government’ have through the ministry of Environment commended the residents of Umuahia the Abia State Capital for their massive participation in the end of the month of July 2026 sanitation exercise.
The exercise which took place on Saturday the 25th of July 2026, witnessed residents come out in their numbers to participate in the exercise.

Speaking at the end of the exercise, the Permanent Secretary of ministry of Environment Hon. Ikechukwu Oriuwa who represented the Commissioner of the ministry Hon.Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, said the exercise was quite impressive stating that the level of participation by the residents of Umuahia was quite encouraging and so called on the people to keep it up by cueing into the vision of the governor Dr . Alex Óttï whose desire he said is to make Abia the cleanest state in Nigeria.

The sanitation team drove round the city of Umuahia, visiting markets and some major Points including major streets such as Azikiwe street , Finbarrs road Ojike street Awolowo Orie Ugba market among others in Umuahia. The Permanent Secretary Hon Oriuwa was seen encouraging people participating in the exercise, while ordering that Defaulters should be arrested and prosecuted by the Abia state Sanitation Court .
