Abia Police Arrest Four Suspected Drug Peddlers, Recover Illicit Substances

The Abia State Police Command has arrested four suspected drug peddlers and recovered quantities of suspected illicit substances during an intelligence-led operation in Osisioma Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, disclosed this in a press release issued on Saturday, stating that operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) Headquarters carried out the operation on July 16, 2026, following credible intelligence on the cultivation and distribution of illicit drugs in the area.

According to the statement, the suspects are David Chika Nwakamma, 50, of Amapuife in Osisioma LGA, Abia State; Stanley Moses, also known as “Rati Boy,” 33, of Njaba LGA, Imo State; Ibe Chisom, 29, of Mbaise LGA, Imo State; and Austin GodsWill, 27, also of Mbaise LGA, Imo State.

The police said all four suspects, who reside in Osisioma, were apprehended during the operation.

Items recovered from the suspects include quantities of substances suspected to be hard drugs packaged for distribution, as well as suspected freshly harvested cannabis.

The Command stated that investigations into the case are ongoing.

Reaffirming its resolve to combat crime, the Abia State Police Command warned that criminals would find no safe haven in the state. It also urged residents to support security efforts by reporting suspicious persons and activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency hotlines.

The statement reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant under the slogan, “See Something, Say Something. Together, we keep Abia safe.”
