Abia Police Begin Training on Crime Mapping, Timing, Prevention.
The Abia State Police Command has commenced a training programme on crime mapping, crime timing and crime nipping to strengthen intelligence-led policing, enhance proactive crime prevention and improve security across the state.

The training, which began on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, brought together police personnel, representatives of sister security agencies and members of community security groups to promote collaboration, intelligence-sharing and effective crime prevention.
In his opening address, the Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Anthony Bessy, said the initiative aligned with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police to build an accountable and professional police force anchored on intelligence-led and community policing.
He urged participants to apply the knowledge acquired during the training in their respective operational areas to improve crime detection, prevention and response.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to lawful, professional and proactive policing, assuring residents of its continued efforts to create a safer environment across Abia State.
The initiative is expected to strengthen cooperation among security agencies and community security groups while promoting the use of intelligence and crime data in addressing security challenges.
