Abia State Government to Host Stakeholders’ Meeting on Education

 

The Abia State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has announced plans to convene a comprehensive stakeholders’ meeting aimed at advancing the state’s education sector.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the meeting is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 27th August 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the Ministry’s Conference Hall in Umuahia.

The meeting will bring together a wide range of key stakeholders including the State Coordinators of WAEC and NECO, Chairman and Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), the leadership of ANCOPPS, NAPPS, and AFED, the Chairman of the House Committee on Basic and Secondary Education, the State Coordinator of Mothers of Education, Local Government Education Secretaries, Education Directors, and Secretaries of faith-based organisations.

Also expected are Supervisory Councillors for Education from the 17 local government areas, Chairmen of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), representatives of STEM education, heads of publishing firms, and all directors and heads of parastatals under the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

The Ministry emphasized that the gathering is crucial for discussing policies, challenges, and strategies to improve the delivery and quality of basic and secondary education in the state.

“All invited stakeholders are urged to attend promptly, as the meeting will address critical issues shaping the future of education in Abia State,” the statement read.

The release was signed by Mr. Uchechukwu Kalu, Permanent Secretary, on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education.
