APC Announces Winners of Abia National Assembly Primaries Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced the results of its National Assembly primary elections conducted across the state ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The party said the primaries for both the House of Representatives and Senate seats were successfully concluded in a peaceful and transparent manner across the various federal constituencies and senatorial districts in the state.

According to a statement issued by the party, the elections were supervised by returning officers led by Erasmus Cishark, with delegates and party stakeholders participating actively in the exercise.

For the House of Representatives primaries held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, Hon. Chris Nkwonta emerged winner for Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency, while Chief Udo Alozie secured victory for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbor Federal Constituency.

In Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Uzo Azubuike emerged victorious, while Chief Uzo Ihuka clinched the ticket for Isiala Ngwa North/Isiala Ngwa South Federal Constituency.

The former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, emerged as the party’s candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, while Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, won the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency ticket.
Also returned were Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu for Bende Federal Constituency and Mr. Ikenna Ukwa for Ohafia/Arochukwu Federal Constituency.

For the senatorial primaries conducted on May 18, 2026, former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, emerged as the APC candidate for Abia North Senatorial District, while Hon. Emeka Atuma secured the ticket for Abia Central Senatorial District.
In Abia South Senatorial District, Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr. emerged as the party’s standard bearer.

The APC congratulated all successful candidates on their emergence and expressed confidence in their ability to provide effective representation at the National Assembly.

The party further stated that the candidates would advance the ideals of the APC and support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The party also commended aspirants, delegates, party officials and stakeholders for ensuring a peaceful, credible and transparent primary election process across the state.
