Dr Chima Anyaso Sponsors Ofuji Unity Cup, Igbere, Item Okpi Set for Umunna Derby

Football enthusiasts and supporters of Igbere and Item Okpi are set for a keenly contested community derby as both sides clash in the Ofuji Unity Cup on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

The much-anticipated Umunna Derby, sponsored by Dr Chima Anyaso, Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal House of Representatives, will take place at the Science School, Alayi, with kick-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

The encounter is expected to attract supporters from both communities, as the match goes beyond football to celebrate unity, community spirit and healthy rivalry among the people.

Organised under the theme “Unity through Football,” the Ofuji Unity Cup is aimed at using football as a platform to bring people together, strengthen communal bonds and promote sporting activities among youths.

Dr Chima Anyaso’s sponsorship of the competition is expected to further support the initiative and encourage youth participation in community sports.

Football lovers, residents and supporters of both teams have been encouraged to turn out in large numbers to support their respective sides and enjoy what promises to be an exciting community football encounter.

The Igbere Mirror Magazine is supporting the event and calls on football fans to make the most of the derby while promoting sportsmanship, unity and peaceful community relations.
