As part of his ongoing consultations with traditional rulers and community leaders across Bende Local Government Area, Dr. Chima Desmond Anyaso on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Eze Silas Okeofia Igwe, JP, the Okpi of Item.

The visit underscored Dr. Anyaso’s recognition of the pivotal role of traditional institutions in fostering peace, unity, and sustainable community development. It also reflected his commitment to engaging with stakeholders in advancing the socio-economic progress of Bende.

The Okpi Stool, regarded as the highest traditional institution in Item Kingdom, remains a symbol of the people’s unity, cultural heritage, and shared identity.

During the visit, His Royal Majesty warmly welcomed Dr. Anyaso, offering words of wisdom, prayers, and royal blessings. Both leaders emphasized the importance of collaboration between traditional institutions and public-spirited individuals in promoting grassroots development and strengthening communal harmony.

Speaking during the engagement, Dr. Anyaso reaffirmed his commitment to a greater Bende built on inclusive leadership, respect for traditional authority, and people-centred development.
