ELECTRIC BUSES TO COMMENCE OPERATION SOON IN ABIA

The first ever Electric Buses in Abia state, have arrived the state and would commence operation very soon .

This news was made known to the press by the Honourable Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu while briefing News men on the far reaching decisions reached at the week’s Executive Council Meeting which held at government’ house Umuahia . Speaking further the information Boss disclosed that the first tranche of 20 buses have been received in the state and will commence operation soon in the state .

“The 40 seater-capacity electric buses were specifically built for Abia State. Another set of 20 buses will be received early next year , while about a total of 100 buses are expected in the first phase of the transit scheme.

 

The Commissioner announced that the Governor will on Tuesday , the 16th, unveil the Abia state 25-years Development Plan, a strategic future -proof document that will articulate and chart a deliberate and transformative roadmap for the state.

The Information Commissioner equally disclosed that Governor Alex Otti has assented to the Abia State Start-up Bill, a legal document which would enable the state establish a framework to foster innovation, develop tech-enabled start-ups, nurture digital talents and position Abia as a leading tech-hub across the country.

Prince Kanu announced that the graduation ceremony of the second cohort of the Abia Tech-Rise ICT training, where 850 youths would be certified on ICT would take place on Saturday the 20th of December .

He noted that the 850 graduands will bring the total number of youths who have graduated under the scheme to 1,399.
