The member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency, Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, has declared that Isuikwuato remains firmly under the control of the Labour Party, as the party recorded a major boost with the defection of several prominent stakeholders and supporters in Acha, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State..

Speaking during the high-profile reception held at the country home of Chief Chris Ajah in Acha, Hon. Lucky Johnson described the mass defection as a clear demonstration of the people’s confidence in the leadership of Governor Alex Otti and the growing popularity of the Labour Party across Abia North.

He assured the party leadership that the people of Isuikwuato are fully committed to sustaining the party’s dominance and delivering overwhelming support for Governor Alex Otti and all Labour Party candidates in future elections.

The event was attended by the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, who represented Governor Alex Otti, alongside the State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Peter Azubuike, and other senior party leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Engr. Emetu said the Labour Party remains a platform built on integrity, development, and the delivery of tangible dividends of democracy. He told the defectors that the party is driven by measurable progress and people-oriented governance rather than empty promises.

He noted that the massive alignment of Acha people with the Labour Party reflected growing political consciousness, unity, and a shared commitment to progress.

He, however, urged party faithful not to relent in grassroots mobilization and sustained engagement.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Peter Azubuike, assured the new entrants of inclusiveness, equity, and unity, stressing that every member would be given a sense of belonging as the party continues to expand its structures across the state.

As part of the ceremony, the Deputy Governor officially handed over the Labour Party flag to Chief Chris Ajah and Hon. Obinna Ekekwe, signifying their formal entry into the party.
Engr. Emetu recalled that Abia North delivered a clean sweep for the Labour Party in the 2023 elections and expressed confidence that the zone would surpass that feat in 2027.

Speaking on behalf of party leadership in the area, Chief Kenneth Ahia, SAN, reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Alex Otti, describing him as a transformational leader whose performance has continued to attract support across communities.

In their separate remarks, Chief Chris Ajah and Hon. Obinna Ekekwe thanked Governor Alex Otti and the Labour Party leadership for the warm reception. They pledged to contribute to the growth of the party and ensure its victory in future elections.

Hon. Ekekwe said his decision to join the Labour Party was inspired by the visible developmental strides of the present administration.

Chief Ajah also disclosed that the Abia State Government has approved and released funds for key infrastructure projects in Acha, including the reconstruction of the Amibo-Acha road and the restoration of electricity through reconnection to the national grid.
