NATIONAL POLICE DAY 2026: ABIA STATE COMMAND HOLDS PUBLIC SENSITIZATION CAMPAIGN

As part of activities marking the National Police Day Celebration 2026, the Abia State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, organized a public sensitization campaign at the Command Headquarters in Umuahia.

The event, led by the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, drew participation from a wide range of stakeholders, including members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, representatives of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), traditional and community leaders, as well as members of the Abia State Tricycles Operators Union (ASTOPU), Police Officers Wives’ Association (POWA), state vigilante groups, and youth organizations. Similar engagements were simultaneously held across Area Commands in the state to ensure broader participation.

In his address, CP Isa stated that the National Police Day celebration is aimed at strengthening community partnership, building trust, raising public awareness, and enhancing understanding of the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force in sustaining peace and security.

He stressed the importance of public cooperation and timely information sharing in effective policing, assuring participants of continued accessibility and responsiveness of the police.

He also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professionalism and maintaining public confidence.
The sensitization campaign featured a series of lectures on critical issues.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, DCP Onoja Samuel, delivered a lecture on electoral violence, highlighting its causes and dangers.

The State Traffic Officer, CSP Balogun Amarachi, spoke on safe driving practices, while the Officer-in-Charge of Medical, ACP Emelike Chinenye, addressed the health implications and medical aspects of road safety.

The event concluded with an interactive session where participants shared observations, raised questions, and made contributions aimed at strengthening collaboration between the police and the community in enhancing security across Abia State.
