Abia Police Kick Off National Police Day 2026 with Sanitation, Medical Outreach.

The Abia State Police Command has commenced activities marking the 2026 National Police Day 2026 with an environmental sanitation exercise and free medical outreach across key locations in the state.

The exercise, held on Monday, formed the first in a series of week-long activities lined up to commemorate the annual event

Police officers, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police to promote proactive policing and strengthen community partnership, carried out sanitation exercises at Orie-Ugba Market in Umuahia and Cemetery Market in Aba.

As part of the programme, the Command’s ACP Medical, ACP Emelike Chinenye, led a health sensitisation campaign at the markets, educating traders and residents on essential health practices.

The outreach also featured physical fitness sessions and free medical screenings, including blood pressure checks for members of the public.

In a further show of community engagement, the medical team extended its services to the School of the Blind in Afara and a Motherless Babies Home located along Ngwa Road in Aba.

The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Danladi Isa, called on residents to actively participate in the remaining activities scheduled for the week.

He disclosed that a walkathon would take place on Tuesday at Okpara Square in Umuahia and at the Area Command in Aba, beginning at 8:00 a.m., as part of efforts to deepen police-community relations and promote public health awareness.
