On the Unwavering Loyalty of Dr. Chima Anyaso and the #OttiAgain Mandate

It has become necessary to address the recent attempts to weave a narrative of “opportunism” around the Ofuji Movement and its leadership. While we usually prefer to let our work speak for itself, the blatant attempt to create a rift where none exists requires a clear and final clarification.

The history of the struggle for a new Abia cannot be written without the prominent role of Dr. Chima Anyaso. In 2015, when the political climate was fraught with uncertainty, Dr. Chima bravely stepped away from his thriving global business pursuits to campaign vigorously for Governor Alex Otti.

It is ironic that the same voices now questioning his loyalty were, at that time, still searching for their footing—far from any meaningful political direction or contribution to the liberation of our state. From that first contest to the present day, Dr. Anyaso’s actions have been singular in purpose: to bolster and strengthen Governor Otti’s electoral prospects.

Those attempting to derail Dr. Anyaso from giving sustained focus to his #OttiAgain campaign have failed woefully. Our principal remains unshaken and fully committed to the success of the Labour Party administration in Abia State.

The strength of a political leader is often measured by the company they keep and the structures they build. Dr. Anyaso’s philanthropic and political wings are designed to be inclusive and expansive; however, his personal and political allegiance to Governor Alex Otti is not a matter for debate—it is a matter of public record.

Politics is indeed about perception, but it is also about results. The “uncomfortable questions” being raised are nothing more than a calculated attempt to distract from the momentum of the #OttiAgain movement.

In a complex political landscape, engagements and dialogues are constants. However, a subordinate’s administrative roles or professional associations do not dictate the ideological compass of the Principal.

Dr. Chima Anyaso does not need to “hedge his bets.” His investment in the Otti project was made when it was most “risky” to do so. To suggest opportunism now—when the dividends of good governance are finally being felt—is not only illogical but mischievous.

The Ofuji Movement remains a powerhouse of support for the Governor. We will not be drawn into a “web” of baseless speculation. Our eyes are on the goal: The total consolidation of the Labour Party’s mandate in Abia State.
