NEW FIRE SERVICE STATION TO BE BUILT IN UMUAHIA

As part of the on going reforms in Abia state , governor Alex Otti
have commenced the construction of an ultra modern Digitalized fire service headquarters in Umuahia the Abía State Capital .
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Homeland Security, Fire and Emergency Services, Mr Chukwunenye Alajemba, disclosed this to news men on Tuesday in Umuahia .
Mr. Alajemba said the project would replace the old fire station that was built before the creation of the state, stating that governor Alex Otti who ordered for the project said he wants a new response unit that meets world standard .
According to him, the new complex would serve as an Emergency Response headquarters with about 10 fire Fighting trucks, a medical emergency unit ,mini-clinic, dispatch call centre and an integrated communication centre equipped with advanced modern technologies
It would also enable hospitals to prepare for emergencies before the arrival of a patient .
He added that the facility would operate an end-to-end response network linking emergency calls to nearby hospitals, ambulances, and fire units, a first-of-its-kind to be setup in the state. The project he said is expected to be delivered in 28 weeks .
The Senior Special Assitant urged the people to provide for themselves certified fire extinguishers to help protect their houses and business premises.
He expressed optimism that with the Governor’s support, Abia would soon have one of the most responsive and technologically advanced emergency system in Nigeria .
