The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has paid tribute to the late Deaconess Oluchi Lovina Anyanwu, describing her as a woman of deep faith, resilience, and exemplary service.

Governor Otti made the remarks at her funeral service held by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Umuahia District of the Abia North Central Conference, at Eziama Ossah in Umuahia North Local Government Area.

Represented by his deputy,E Ikechukwu Emetu, the governor extended condolences to the Anyanwu family of Eziama, Ossah, Ibeku, noting that while her passing brings grief, it also calls for gratitude to God for a fulfilled life. He reminded mourners of the biblical teaching that there is a time for everything, urging acceptance of God’s will.

He noted that the deceased lived a life of unwavering commitment to her family, faith, and community, adding that she witnessed the fruits of her labour in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will sustain her legacy.

The governor urged the family to take comfort in her impactful life and called on all to live purposefully, stressing that life’s true value lies in its impact, not its length. He also prayed for strength for the family and the Ossah community.

In his sermon, Chaplaincy/Public Campus/District Leader, Festus Awuloha, cited Hebrews 9:27 and 2 Corinthians 5:10, reminding the congregation of the certainty of judgment and the need to live righteously. He noted that the deceased lived a life of service and spiritual consciousness.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the first son, Obinna Onyekwere, described his mother as a virtuous woman devoted to faith, diligence, and selfless service. He said she supported her family through sewing, catering, and trading, while instilling discipline and strong Christian values in her children.

He added that she was deeply spiritual, led her family in prayers, and served faithfully in the church as a women’s ministry treasurer, leader, and later matron. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and peacemaking spirit.

The late Deaconess, who died at 95, was widely regarded as a pillar of the church and a symbol of humility, devotion, and service.
