PRESIDENTIAL MEDIA TEAM ARRIVES ABIA STATE TO INSPECT PROJECTS

A presidential
Team known as The Renewed Hope National Media Tour Team from Asu_Rock Abuja have arrived Abia State to carry out the inspection of completed and ongoing collaborative Projects across the state .

This development was disclosed by the Abia State Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu while briefing the press on Tuesday the 16th of June 2026 at the government house Umuahia on the outcome of the week’s Executive Council meeting , headed by the state governor Dr Alex Otti.

According to the Commissioner the Presidential Renewed Hope Agenda Media Team would have a two day visit of projects being executed by the federal government in conjunction with the Abia state government, both completed and on going projects. Such projects as the Abia Airport and the Renewed Hope Housing Estate projects and other intervention projects are expected to be inspected by the team .

Kanu said the state government have began to enforce the relocation of transport buses and motor parks in Umuahia to
the Nnenna Óttï Bus Terminal Umuahia . He said the relocation is however being done in phases .The first phase is the moving in of the Abia state Green Shuttle Buses and the second is the Informal Transport sector which include all commercial buses. The above two phases have been completed and fully operational in the terminal other phases he said would commence soon.

He Explained that the Commissioner for Transport hon. Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu have been holding series of meetings with the Operators and
Motor Park Union’s to address some grey areas of this movement .

The Commissioner again informed that the state government is committed to the protection of the rights of the Elderly in the state. He stated that government’ have taken a firm stand to ensure that Senior Citizens in the state are well taken care of in terms of their health and other needs . He however noted that this does not mean that the Elderly are entitled to monthly salary as been insinuated in some quarters . He said this is why the state government celebrated the 2026 World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day for Senior Citizens of the state .
